Saint Michael’s is a residential centre operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Aberdeen. Groups generally stay for short periods, ranging from weekends to several weeks. Regardless of the length of their stay, it is important to take all possible steps to safeguard individuals. In view of its residential nature, Saint Michael’s is fully covered by modern fire-detection and emergency lighting systems. It is also fully equipped with fire-fighting appliances.
In the unlikely event of a resident requiring medical attention, Tomintoul has its own Medical Practice. Out of hours cover is provided by NHS 24. The nearest hospital with minor injury facilities is in Dufftown (30 minutes by road). The nearest hospital with an accident & emergency department is in Elgin (1 hour by road)
Saint Michael’s caters, at times, for adult groups, who are largely responsible for their own well-being. However, our clients are more often drawn from younger age-groups, and we join with all who seek to ensure that young people are protected from all forms of exploitation and abuse
Saint Michael’s operates in line with National Policies and Procedures contained in ‘Awareness & Safety in our Catholic Communities’ – Safeguarding Children, Young People & Vulnerable Adults
